Private and commercial interests should not override public ones
Business Improvement Districts (BID) are a global concept used in other jurisdictions in the world to harness commercial and business interests to help inform and fund the revitalisation of city areas. They are often driven to enable the economies of local areas to grow by harnessing different groups and enabling them to collaborate and coordinate their efforts for changes to areas.
The new BID focus on the western harbour must ensure existing and new resident needs are also front and centre in the vision for enhanced business and economic outcomes for the area.
Pyrmont Action has sought to engage with the New Waterfront BID to ensure that the needs of business and residents are balanced and recommendations for new infrastructure align these needs.
How to get involved: Reach out and share your ideas with Pyrmont Action to ensure that public and resident interests remain balanced with business and commercial interests in and around the western harbour and its foreshore.
